John grew up at 1507 Butler Avenue on the West side of Youngstown in this old house. Throughout the years he loved driving by and remembering his childhood and the good old days!

A devout Christian, John watched his church, Our Lady Of Hungary, being built in 1929, followed by many, many precious memories in the parish throughout the years, only saddened to learn of the recent discussions of closing of the church.
Through marriage, he was associated with St. Casimir Church, and later attended daily services at the Franciscan Shrine on Belle Vista Avenue.
Over the years, Mr. Madacsi actively participated in many religious affiliations. These included serving as an active member of the Secular Third Order of St. Francis, president of St. Vincent DePaul Society, Honorary member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree Council No. 274, Rosary Confraternity Society of the Church, Councilman of Our Lady of Hungary.

Another one of his favorite church activities was making Hungarian Kobasa to help raise money for the needs of the parish. He was known as the spice man and made as well as supervised the seasoning of every batch!

John was very athletic and loves all sports. On of his favorite hobbies was fishing which he did as often as he could. He would often organize trips to Canada with family and relatived to catch the really big ones!
